  i have to admit that i do find it very very hard to believe there is no 'god' or higher intelligent power or cosmic force of some kind behind it all.

  at the very last a non-personal einstein or spinoza version of god.

  If you find more comfort in being an atheist, power to you.

  It's not comfort I am seeking . . . it's truth. And the truth is not always comfortable.

  If the bible was the indisputable bastion of truth it is claimed to be . . . then I too, would believe it with comfort.

  But it's not . . . so it doesn't work for me.

  I seek truth also and the truth is not always comforting.

  When I get real comfortable I look for an injection of truth.

  And when the truth knocks me out I look for some comfort.

  A lot of people are like me.

  Not every Christian I have ever met. Many tell me they don't believe that Jesus is god. Some are on this board.

  Jehovahs witnesses are not Christian, they are a cult. They are a counterfit.

  I suspect that 95% of the people on this board were JW's at one time, they are not Christian.

  The only JW's that are Christian became Christian apart from any JW activity.

  Which God are we talking about. The xians, who supposedly have the one holy book, cant decide for themselves, there are over 30000 different variations.

  Have a relationship with the God that delivers the goods.

  Dawkins wrote a book the God delusion, he says I'm paraphrasing to get rid of all the Gods throughout history

  untill you get to the right one.

  The Jehovahs witness are not a Christians organization, They are a counterfit.

  Every Christain I have ever met will tell you, Jesus is God.

  Do you think that observation is wrong?

  Yes I do. I spent many years telling Jesus "yes" after leaving the cult . . . through pleadings and tears.

  It seems from his lack of response, that we are no longer on speaking terms.

  I'm sorry to hear that, I'm sorry for your pain is what I mean.

  If you find more comfort in being an atheist, power to you.

  I will say in 60 years I have had my share of sorrow, loss and tears and I have found comfort

  from the bible. Sometimes the comfort is that all things will pass and this tribulation will pass also.

  Thats pretty simple. Maybe you are looking for something more grandoise and complicated.

  And maybe I have settled for something too simple.

  But it works for me.

  knocking is a metaphor to say that his presence and desire is known.

  You know his story and words are in the bible and you know from the bible he is knocking and wants to come in.

  Jesus and God want to have a relationship with mankind. That is the story of the bible. To get right with God.

  To accept Jesus as your savior.

  John 3:16 says

  16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  You know that and every atheist here knows that. And for many sundry reasons you are saying no.

  The knock is a metaphor for the words in the bible, Jesus wants you to have faith in him.

  The atheist have written books on why they cant have faith.

  I have to agree with you Literally Jesus is not knocking on your door.

  I can also accept that you do not believe in the bible or Jesus.

  You dont see any need and think its foolish.

  Jesus has been knocking on everyones door for my lifetime and thru out recorded history. . . . JB

  Aha . . . a scientific reason for belief in God. Just what I've been looking for.

  Any other gems from the lab?

  The scientific reasons I gave were the earths relationship to the sun and the moon and the earths tilt on its axis the tides

  and the narrow temperature range life exist in.

  Jesus knocking on everyones door in my lifetime was my non scientific observation that I have made and commented on.

  I would say non scientifically its my observation that Jesus has called on every atheist on this board and every atheist on

  this board is in the process of saying no, and listing their reason why.

  Every atheist on this board was once a JW and once read the bible and is telling Jesus no and listing the reasons.

  Thats not scientific its just one persons observation. Do you think that observation is wrong?

  i was reading a novel by a british author, robert goddard.

  i have read several of his books but in this one, "past caring" he spells the word "connexion" instead of "connection".

  i had never seen that spelling before.

  I'm American, but its the English language.

  I noticed here in the states we say worse and the English say worst. I'm pretty sure if I were to have

  written worst in place of worse in English class in the states I would have recieved demeritts.

  We say" worse case scenerio"

  i had a fellow ex-jehovah's witness (who's a male by the way, he has a youtube channel) who sent me a message on facebook saturday morning that was very sexual in nature.

  please be careful when added certain people on facebook, just an heads up.

  also be careful with credit card info, giving certain private also.

  i've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.

  sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.

  but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

  I was born and raised a witness in 1952.

  I am mad about the life and opportunities wasted.

  About not getting an education and a career.

  I am mad at my mother for raising me a witness. She apologized. I accepted it.

  But I am still filled with anger. I just keep it inside.

  I have taken anti-depressants off and on.

  Currently off, because they all have side effects.

  I am angry how people can be so sure about things and yet so wrong, in all matters from religion, politics, evolution, creation.

  Did anyone find the movie The Grey slightly offensive?

  its portrayal of grey wolves was horribly inaccurate.

  it will probably lead to an even more negative attitude toward wolves, which puts them in more danger.

  i believe i read that the creators bought dead wolves while producing the movie.. its main characters' philosophizing was pretentious, cliched, and insulting to my intelligence.
